The MENding Monologues Speaking Tour
Derek Dujardin answers the question:
“How do you get guys to care about gender violence?”
For the past five years, Derek Dujardin, the creator of The MENding Monologues, has helped men to write and perform personal monologues on how gender violence has directly impacted their lives and the lives of their sisters, daughters, mothers and lovers.
Using his firsthand experience, he has created a dynamic program that is part lecture and part theatrical performance designed for students, activists and academics alike. Combining well-told stories with key learnings, he takes a fresh approach to the issues of gender violence that is unexpected, entertaining and educational.

Each campus visit comes in two parts:
PART 1: A MAN-TO-MAN MEETING
Derek will conduct a free, 60-minute guided discussion with men about the origins of male violence, along with several powerful exercises to help guys become authentically present to the role of gender violence has played in their own lives. Ideally, this would be conducted in the early afternoon on campus and would be a “men’s only” event to encourage robust, open discussion.
PART 2: “BECOMING A MASCULINE ADVOCATE” PERFORMANCE
This evening event is part lecture, part theatrical performance that’s about 75 minutes long. Built around three powerful monologues from the show, Derek will talk about his own personal journey and transformation from average guy who didn’t care or think much about gender violence into a passionate activist. Using personal stories and fresh insights, he’ll deliver real-world tips and tricks applicable to students, academics, counselors and activists alike. PART 2 is open to all everyone and will also include an open discussion for attendees.
PARTS 1 & 2 are offered as a complete package for a single price, plus travel and lodging for two nights. If one of these parts are not desired or needed, one of them can be eliminated, but the cost generally remains the same.
